PETROCHEMICAL

decommissioning, controlled structure collapse, facade retention, petrochemical

For over 30 years Squibb Demolition have been decommissioning petrochemical refineries and distillation plants, perfecting the techniques of dismantling and removing plant and equipment. Work has been undertaken in the Thames hinterland refineries as well as in Runcorn, Whitehaven, Grangemouth and Milford Haven.

Squibb Demolition has a history of working within oil refineries and installations where careful dismantling of the structures is required. Particular regard has to be paid to the health and safety of the workforce, and public, where hazardous material may affect pipework or structures.

Prior to all operations, fully detailed studies are undertaken, including the estimation of the type and tonnage of recoverable materials, either as reusable plant and equipment or as suitable for recycling. All works are subject to comprehensive and detailed method statements, with in-depth risk assessments and appropriate strategies for the control of lead contamination and other substances hazardous to health.

PIONEERING NEW TECHNIQUES

Squibb Demolition were the first to use a tower crane within a working refinery to dismantle a catalytic cracker column. They have also pioneered new techniques to effectively analyse waste products and determine the most reliable and economic methods of disposal.
