FORMER GREENWICH HOSPITAL - LONDON
Working in conjunction with our retained structural engineers we produced a demolition method statement which made allowances for the construction being in no fines concrete and there being no tie between the pre cast concrete slab and the steel frame. With a structure of this nature there is a high risk of premature collapse so a temporary propping system was installed to stop the building ‘running’.
Squibb Demolition also took responsibility for the design of permanent works to the adjoining Health Centre.
The works included the removal of large quantities of asbestos and radioactive waste disposal to licenced facilities. Explosive demolition of a reinforced concrete chimney stack, demolition of a 4 hectare site to below ground slab with all arisings recycled for on site use.
